Every year the experts at Baseball America and MLB Pipeline compile their lists of the top 100 prospects in the minors and the top 20 for each major league team. Some of these players do make the show, but many never make it out of low minors. While Mets fans anxiously awaited the arrivals of top prospects Noah Syndergaard and Michael Conforto in 2015, there’s a core of players that will never see Citi Field unless they buy a ticket. Here’s one of the 10 worst prospects in the Mets system in 2015.

Easiest player to be named as overvalued was Raphael Ramirez.

Appeared in 2015 Baseball America prospect guide as one of the fastest players in organization.

Which doesn’t do you any good if you cannot crack the starting lineup.

Ramirez batted .216 in Kingsport in 2015 with five stolen bases in 27 games, which ranked sixth on the team.

Hit .167, scoring three runs and one stolen base his last ten games going down the stretch.

He lost his starting outfield job to Sterling Award Winner Kevin Kaczmarski, who stole 20 bases, scored 47 runs, and hit .355, with a .415 OBP.

Kaczmarski had a strong work ethic, while Ramirez seemed too preoccupied with himself and what he should be.

While other players stretched and prepared, he could be found looking at sunglasses and T-shirts at a concession stand.

Ramirez is slowly following in the footsteps of another prospect whose game was based on speed: Alonzo Harris, who is out of organized baseball after being released by Mets in 2013.

Selected in 18th round of 2014 draft, Ramirez would be lucky to land on a team in the spring.

He could end up a fourth outfielder for short-season Brooklyn in the summer of 2016.
