Every year the experts at Baseball America and MLB Pipeline compile their lists of the top 100 prospects in the minors and the top 20 for each major league team. Some of these players do make the show, but many never make it out of low minors. While Mets fans anxiously awaited the arrivals of top prospects Noah Syndergaard and Michael Conforto in 2015, there’s a core of players that will never see Citi Field unless they buy a ticket. Here’s one of the 10 worst prospects in the Mets system in 2015.

Right-handed pitcher Connor Buchmann received a 50-game suspension for testing positive for amphetamines on Dec. 17, 2015.

Buchmann has had some major control issues in his first two seasons in the Mets system, issuing 32 walks in 18.2 innings.

He has given up 26 earned runs over that same span for a career ERA of 12.54.

In his appearance with Kingsport in 2014, Buchmann entered the game in the eighth inning. He pitched a third of an inning, faced eight batters, gave up five hits, walked two, and left game.

His ERA was 108.00 ERA after his first MiLB game.

He made seven appearances (three starts) with Kingston in 2015, going 0-3 with a 13.89 ERA, five strikeouts, and 19 walks in 11.2 innings pitched.

Buchmann was selected by the Mets in the 11th round of the 2014 MLB amateur draft out of Oklahoma.

  1. He also touched out at 100mph this year and showed probably the most potential in practice. You need to get more info when posting pointless articles like this one.
