Kazambrano Korner
Rick Peterson Rick Peterson gained the ire of many Mets fans when in July 2004 he said he could fix Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitcher Victor Zambrano in 10 minutes and that Mets’ top prospect Scott Kazmir was at least 3 years away from being a Major League pitcher.

Many believe that these statements led to the infamous Kazmir trade, where the Mets traded Kazmir for Zambrano. Zambrano has been decidedly mediocre since the trade, while Kazmir was immediately promoted to the majors by the Devil Rays and has shown great potential.

Others say that Peterson was merely giving his opinion as pitching coach, and that any blame for the trade should fall on GM Jim Duquette, owner Fred Wilpon, and CEO Jeff Wilpon.

As early as spring training of this year, some Mets veterans whispered that Kazmir was a little cocky for his own good. One player recalled an episode in which Kazmir annoyed Al Leiter and John Franco by changing the music on the clubhouse sound system and was hardly apologetic about it.

So thats where all this "bad character" stuff comes from. Apprently he changed the radio station and that was enough for Al and Johnny to ship him out of here.

Scott Kazmir started Game 2 of the American League Championship Series for the Rays on Saturday night and came away frustrated after throwing 98 pitches en route to a five-run, 4 1/3-inning outing.

In the first inning, the Rays left-hander appeared like he was off to a good start when he struck out Jacoby Ellsbury to start the game and retired Dustin Pedroia on a flyout for the second out.

Then bad things began to happen. Kevin Youkilis singled and David Ortiz walked. Before long, Jason Bay had a two-run double and the Red Sox had a 2-0 lead. Kazmir finished the first having thrown 38 pitches.
