Darryl Strawberry of the 1986 Mets
Darryl Strawberry, a member of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets team, reacts to fans during a pre-game ceremony to honor the 20th anniversary of the Mets 1986 team.
Carlos Beltran's became the second fastest Mets player to reach 100 RBIs, accomplishing it in his 110th game. Mike Piazza reached 100 RBIs in his 103rd game in 2000.

The Mets played '80s music and showed highlights from the 1986 season on the video scoreboard throughout the game as part of the tribute to the championship team.

The 1986 reunion helped attract a crowd of 55,085, New York's eighth sellout of the season.

Jack Fisher
Jack Fisher
The report on Pedro Martinez was still undetermined last night.

Jack Fisher was the previous Mets pitcher to give up 11 runs. He did it in 4 2-3 innings against San Francisco on June 3, 1967.

Lastings Milledge looks like Todd Hundley in the outfield. I wonder if he swings a bat underwater? He is the most overrated Met prospect in team history according to David West and Shawn Abner.

Jose Reyes has five of his seven career leadoff homers this season. Reyes and Kazuo Matsui (2004) share the single-season team record for leadoff homers. Reyes became the seventh player to hit three homers in a game for the Mets, who have a 13-game lead over the Phillies in the NL East. The former Mets catcher went 1-for-4 in his first game in the Big Apple since he signed with the Padres in the offseason. He received loud cheers from the moment he exited the dugout for pregame stretching to his last at-bat in the eighth inning.

Carlos Beltran also doubled three times to tie a Mets record. Twenty times a Mets player has hit three doubles in a game. The previous time was David Wright at San Francisco on Aug. 21, 2004.

New York stole four bases in the game.

Steve Trachsel is 9-1 in his last 11 starts (since June 9) despite an earned run average of 5.40 over that span. Trachsel leads the major league in wins over that span, but ranks 85th in ERA among pitchers with at least 50 innings pitched.

Ricky Ledee
The Mets have claimed outfielder Ricky Ledee off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ledee was batting .245 (13-for-53) in 43 games with a homer and eight RBIs for the Dodgers this season. Ledee must be happy to be back in New York. While in Southern California, Ledee was often asked by illegal aliens where they could find work.

Gambling, cheat rumors fail to shake Paul Lo Duca according to the Daily News.

Mike Piazza is back at Shea tonight. I am sure many of the front runners who have been at Shea this season will not know who Mike Piazza is. He was what David Wright is today to the Mets. Former teammates still hold the 37-year-old future Hall of Famer in high esteem. Piazza commented, "I am not gay!"

Lo Duca drama
Jose Reyes, who signed a $23.25 million, four-year extension on Thursday, set a Mets season record for homers by a shortstop with his 11th, breaking a tie with Kevin Elster (1989) and Ed Bressoud (1966).

Paul Lo Duca Playboy-model wife accused him of scoring off the field and filed for divorce, The New York Post has learned.

The Mets also had eight grand slams in 1999 and 2000.

He hopes to be ready by Tuesday, when the Mets open a three-game set with San Diego "It will be a couple of days. The tests showed some fluid inflammation," Floyd said. "Hopefully I'll be ready Tuesday."

Tom Glavine had the previous longest scoreless streak for the Mets this season with 17 innings.

Paul Lo Duca is hitting .430 (43-for-100) since July 1. Too bad he can't throw runners out or catch the ball with a runner coming into the plate.

Aug 6, 2006
Cliff Floyd, held out of the starting lineup on July 30 because of the tendon, aggravated it when he unsuccessfully chased Aaron Rowand's foul in the left-field corner.

Jose Reyes doubled leading off the bottom of the first and scored on Lastings Milledge's single.

Philadelphia stole four bases in the first two innings including the 24th and 25th of the season in the first by Rollins. Way to get those runners out Paul Lo Duca.

Roberto Hernandez struck out Nunez in the sixth on a 52-mph curveball.

Billy Wagner blows another game.
Billy Wagner has allowed seven walk off home runs in his career. Wagner blew a save for the fifth time in 27 chances. That meltdown against the Yankees at Shea was not a save opportunity. John Franco couldn't stop laughing to make a comment.

The Mets' defense gave up a run in the first when right fielder Lastings Milledge, recalled Monday from Triple-A Norfolk, lost a routine two-out fly in the setting sun and let it drop for a single. That put runners at first and second, and the next batter doubled for a 1-all tie. Milledge scraped his left hand when spiked sliding into second base in the eighth and left the game. He said he'll be available to play Wednesday.

Reyes hit 17 triples in 2005 and he hit his 13th triple this year in the Mets game in Florida Tuesday night. Reyes is the first National League player to have 30-or-more triples over a two-season span since Juan Samuel hit 32 for the Phillies spanning 1984 (19) and 1985 (13).

Stellar setup man Duaner Sanchez dislocated his pitching shoulder in a taxi accident, Sanchez was riding in a cab that got into an accident near the team's hotel in Florida on Sunday night, the Mets said. He flew back to New York on Monday and was being treated at a hospital. It's the second time in two years a Mets pitcher has been injured in a taxi.
